| How your contribution can help young Muslims, and help you |
Help others £5 donation can pay for... ...the average cost of a suicide call to the Helpline on its Freephone number. £10 donation can pay for... ...a call back on a client’s mobile for 25 minutes of peer support. As our phone number is only free from landlines, we provide a call back service on mobiles without them having to worry about going out of credit.
£20 donation can pay for... ...one befriending session with a client to raise the self esteem of our distressed clients.
This may involve face to face support, for example accompanying a young person enrolling in college.
£40 donation can pay for…. …the cost of providing eight half-hour sessions of telephone support to young people in distress.
£100 donation can pay for... ...a half day training on sexual abuse. On average 6% of our callers suffer from sexual abuse. MYH volunteers receive customized training from professionals to enable the distressed clients to receive the type of help best for them.
£250 donation can pay for... ...the training of one volunteer Helpline worker to take calls and respond to emails at the Helpline.
MYH currently has 120 volunteers responding to enquiries 7 days a week. All our Helpline workers are young people and are required to attend a full time 9 day training course comprising of modules in faith sensitive support skills, telephone helpline skills, emails skills and case studies on specific issues such as mental health, drugs, family, relationships and sexuality.
Higher donations can pay for…. …the continuation of our efforts to change the lives of young Muslims.
Help yourself The reward of charity is immense: "Indeed the men who give sadaqah (voluntary charity) and the women who give sadaqah (all of them) are lending a goodly loan to Allah; the return for them will be increased; and for them shall be an exquisite reward." (Qur'an Surah 57: verse 18)
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his Muslim brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection” (recorded in Saheeh Bukhari)
